French Drain Installation in London, Ontario
London Ontario
A gravel trench and a perforated pipe give trapped water a path out. Simple, hidden and effective when it is built right.

How a French Drain Works
Trench, Gravel and Pipe
A French drain is a trench filled with clear stone and a perforated pipe, wrapped in filter fabric. Water enters the pipe through the gravel, flows along the slope and discharges at an outlet away from the wet area.
The fabric prevents soil from washing into the pipe and clogging it. The slope carries water to the outlet. When built right, a French drain is hidden, silent and effective for years. See our yard drainage page for the full range of solutions.

Where They Go
Low Areas, Walls and Soggy Lawns
French drains go where water moves through the soil. Along a wet low area in the yard, behind a retaining wall to relieve hydrostatic pressure, or through a soggy lawn that never dries out.
[CONFIRM WITH GCL: We do not discharge into the municipal storm system or a neighbouring property without confirmation. The discharge must go to a legal outlet. Contact us to discuss.] Pair with downspout extensions for a complete system.

"Dan and his team did great work on the front of my property. I told Dan when he was doing the estimate that I had a concern with a shallow Rogers cable that runs across the front. When doing the work the team took the extra time to hand dig this area making sure they did not cut the line. Outstanding service. Highly recommend. Great overall quality and experience."
